The Dance Factory

The Dance Factory is a unique non-profit dance institution aimed to train children in contemporary dance and ballet via a specially formatted schedule and curriculum. Financed by the Arts and Culture Trust of the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the National Lottery Distribution System, the institute provides a fine atmosphere for these kids where they are exposed to various professional choreographers and dancers. The auditions take place on the first Saturday of January every year. Call for more details.

Construction of the new Dance factory called Mophatong started last year and was completed early this year. It is situated in Newtown next to the old dance factory.
Mophatong is a Sesotho , South Sotho, name meaning initiation school. This has brought us new life to the young dancers who are always seen in large numbers around Newtown.
